Introduction
Compral (“COMPRAL”) is a South African over-the-counter (OTC) pain relief brand offering fast and targeted relief for headaches, body aches, fever, inflammation, joint pain, and period pain.
In managing its operations, marketing activities, and customer interactions, COMPRAL may process certain personal information. COMPRAL is committed to protecting such information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 and its Regulations (“POPI Act”).
This notice sets out how COMPRAL processes personal information of data subjects and its commitment to comply with the POPI Act.

Interpretation and Definitions
- Cookie(s): Small data files placed on a device by a website to remember stateful information or record browsing activity.
- Data subject: The person to whom personal information relates.
- Employee: A permanent, fixed-term, or temporary employee of COMPRAL.
- Operator: A third party that processes personal information for COMPRAL under a mandate or contract, without coming under COMPRAL’s direct authority.
- Information Officer: The person appointed by COMPRAL to monitor compliance with lawful processing conditions, manage POPI Act requests, liaise with the Regulator, and ensure compliance.
- Personal information: Information relating to an identifiable, living, natural person, and where applicable, an identifiable, existing juristic person, including but not limited to:
- Race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, national/ethnic/social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental health, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language, and birth;
- Educational, medical, financial, criminal, or employment history;
- Identifiers such as numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, telephone numbers, location information, online identifiers;
- Biometric information;
- Personal opinions, views, or preferences;
- Private or confidential correspondence;
- Views or opinions of another individual about the person; and
- The name of the person where it appears with other personal information or where disclosure of the name would reveal information about the person.
- Processing: Any operation concerning personal information, whether by automated means or not, including collection, receipt, recording, organisation, storage, updating, retrieval, use, distribution, merging, linking, restriction, erasure, or destruction.
- Privacy Notice: This notice, as amended from time to time.
Processing of Personal Information
What COMPRAL Collects and the Basis Thereof
In the ordinary course of business, COMPRAL may collect:
- Contact details and identifiers necessary to render services or respond to queries (e.g., name, email, phone number, postal address);
- Electronic communications sent to COMPRAL (including website forms and customer service channels);
- Information submitted via the COMPRAL website, including newsletter subscriptions, promotions, competitions, or surveys;
- Technical information via cookies and similar technologies (e.g., browser type, device identifiers, IP address, access times, pages viewed, referral URLs);
- Social media tracking pixel data that helps measure interactions with COMPRAL content and campaigns;
- Publicly available information when monitoring digital conversations on public platforms; and
- Health-related information only if voluntarily provided to report adverse events or side effects related to COMPRAL products.

How Long COMPRAL Keeps Personal Information

- Request correction and/or deletion of personal information;
- Request restriction of processing or object to processing;
- Withdraw consent to processing (where processing is based on consent) and withdraw consent to receive marketing messages;
- Request receipt of, or transfer to another organisation, personal information you provided to COMPRAL in a machine-readable format; and
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if your privacy rights are violated.
If You Choose Not to Provide Personal Information
Where you are given the option to share your personal information with COMPRAL, you may elect not to do so. If you object to processing or withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis, COMPRAL will comply with the request in accordance with its legal obligations; in such cases, certain services or interactions may no longer be available to you.
